Yes. Eligible Canadian veterans can receive Veterans Affairs hearing aid funding, as well as funding for additional audiology services. Eligibility depends on your service history and other criteria.

Here’s how to get hearing aids from VAC:

• Visit a licensed audiologist for a hearing assessment.
  
  
• Have your eligibility confirmed. The audiologist will help determine if your hearing loss is likely service-related. Depending on the specific benefits program, you may also need to meet certain clinical criteria.
  
  
• Submit documentation, including an audiogram, supporting medical records, and necessary forms to VAC. At Whisper Audiology, we can submit these on your behalf.
  
  
• Get your hearing aids. Once your claim is approved, we’ll fit you for the best hearing aids for your lifestyle and needs. Our team will also program your devices and show you how to care for them.

A WSIB hearing loss claim is a claim submitted when hearing loss or tinnitus is believed to have been caused by workplace noise exposure or a work-related traumatic event. If approved, WSIB may provide hearing healthcare benefits and hearing aid coverage

Noise-induced hearing loss is permanent hearing loss that develops gradually due to prolonged exposure to excessive noise. It commonly affects people working in noisy industries, such as construction, manufacturing, mining, transportation, and agriculture.

Yes. Once your WSIB hearing aid claim is approved, you could be eligible for funding for a hearing aid fitting, hearing aids, programming, repairs, maintenance, batteries, assistive listening devices, and ongoing care.

According to the WSIB policy on hearing devices, workers may be eligible for WSIB hearing aid coverage “once they satisfy the following criteria:
• the worker has an allowed claim for work-related hearing loss,
• the device is prescribed by an audiologist or physician, and
• a hearing assessment (i.e., medical case history, audiometry, other tests) has been provided which meets practice standards, and contains findings that support the use of a hearing aid.
